Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Called Off for Today

BELLS BEACH, Victoria/Australia - The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by SNICKERS has been called off today, with little swell to speak of at the primary venue of Bells Beach this morning and low-calibre surf on offer at the backup venue of Johanna.

Event No. 2 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro completed the opening round of competition over the previous two days at the primary site of Bells Beach but lack of surf and an unfavourable swell projected have prompted today's lay day.

"We're stuck in the unfortunate position of having too little surf at Bells and too much surf at Johanna," Damien Hardman, Rip Curl Pro Contest Director, said. "We have some improving conditions in the coming days and will be back at 6:30am tomorrow to assess the next move."

When competition resumes, up first will be Bede Durbidge (AUS), 27, up against wildcard Stuart Kennedy (AUS), 20.
