Quiksilver Pro Round 4 ON at 7:30am, Roxy Pro On Hold, Possible Finish Today

SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia- Round 4 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover has been called ON today with the opening heat hitting the water at 7:30am. The solid conditions on offer this morning could potentially see a winner crowned by day's end.

The opening event of the 2010 ASP World Tour season, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast awoke to pumping three-to-five foot (1 - 1.5 metre) waves running down the point at Snapper Rocks this morning, prompting event organizers to call men's Round 4 on while placing the women's Round 4 on hold.

"We still have some beautiful waves pulsing through today and we'll be getting underway with the men's Round 4 at 7:30am," Rod Brooks, Quiksilver Pro Contest Director, said. "We'll monitor the conditions throughout the first eight heats, but waves permitting, we could potentially move into Round 4 of the women, or carry on and finish the men today."

Up first this morning will be current ASP World No. 5 Adriano de Souza (BRA), 23, battling current ASP World No. 23 Adrian Buchan (AUS), 27, in the opening heat of Round 4.

For the first time in the events' storied nine-year history, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast events are being televised LIVE on FUEL TV in Australia, beaming the world's best surfing right into your living room.
