Beachley Bags a Bomb

SYDNEY, New South Wales - Layne Beachley (AUS), 36, former seven-time ASP Women’s World Champion and pseudo-retired from the ASP Women’s World Tour, has certainly found a way to occupy her time in between events this year. The iconic natural-footer bagged the wave of the day at Ours in Sydney, and CoastalWatch.com was on hand to witness the feat. This...is their story...

Yesterday, was by far the biggest and best day at "Ours" so far this year. It was flawless. The swell was in the 6-8ft range out of the SSE and winds were light offshore westerly all day. The sun was shining and the water was an unseasonably warm 21 degrees.

Seven time world champion and renowned Hawaiian charger Layne Beachley rode what most witnesses are calling the Best wave ever ridden by a female surfer in Australia ever.

Layne ventured out to the notoriously gnarly reef break full of confidence and ready to charge.

Charge she did, and how!
