The second edition of the Trofeo Desafío Español, the annual regatta organized by Club Náutico Español de Vela (CNEV), will have yachts and teams from the 32nd America’s Cup including two of the ACC V5s used the past edition held in Valencia, Alinghi the sailing team of the Defender, Société Nautique de Geneve and Desafío Español, the syndicate of the Challenger of Record, Club Náutico Español de Vela.
Both Swiss and British teams provided some great racing and a spectacular show fighting for the lead. The cruiser-racer class starts racing for the Trofeo Desafío Español on Saturday and a record 87 boats have entered.
The newcomers in the class, TEAMORIGIN, surprised everybody in the first race. The British team, helmed by triple Olympic gold medallist AINSLIE, beat Luna Rossa by 44 seconds and Alinghi just astern of the Italians.
Alinghi won both races on the final day of the Trofeo Desaf?-o Español to secure an emphatic win in the America's Cup class regatta in Valencia.
The Alinghi sailing team raced SUI100, the 32nd America’s Cup winning boat, to five wins out of six this weekend in Valencia, winning the AC class trophy of the Trofeo Desafío Español, Club Náutico Español de Vela’s annual regatta. The Swiss won both races on the final day, followed by Luna Rossa. The Italian team sailed very well this weekend with a brand new afterguard.
