RAHM WINS DANISH OPEN QUALIFIER

Middelfart, Denmark  - Over the weekend of 6 and 7 June Match Racing Denmark hosted the annual Danish Open Qualifier. The regatta is a Grade 3 event, however this year all the participants were placed higher than 75 on ISAFs World Ranking List. A tough group of sailors who all put up a great fight to win the regatta and a ticket to this years Danish Open to be held in Aarhus September 9-13.

Denmarks two highest ranked match race skippers, Mads Ebler and Peter Wibroe, were both very determined to claim the last spot for this year Danish Open.

Both teams won the first round robin and went through to the quarterfinals with 5 out of 5 possible wins.

Unfortunately Mads Ebler never found the rhythm and was eliminated before the semifinals.

Peter Wibroe lost the 5th race in his semifinals and thereby the chance of winning the wild card for this years Danish Open.

With Ebler and Wibroe eliminated there were no Danes to be found in the final. The battle ended up being between Sweden's Mathias Rahm and Finland's Staffan Lindberg. Mathias Rahm had been on top form throughout the regatta and the win was never threathened.

Congratulations to Mathias Rahm and his crew and good luck at the Danish Open!
