Race 2 for the TP52 Series saw Quantum Racing back in the winning groove, taking first gun. Roma wins the first race of the GP42 Series.
Their first victory this season was gained from a combination of an excellent start from helm Terry Hutchinson, one third down from the committee boat. They chose the left side of the course while the Russian Valars III, with Olympic 49er medallist Rodion Luka (UKR) callling tactics, going extreme right. Hutchinson was able to squeeze inside at the windward mark to ease ahead with a slender lead. They were in command from there in the slightly puffy sea breeze conditions.
Russell Coutts (NZL) also elected to go right of middle on the first beat and was able to bring Torbjorn Tornqvist's new Artemis through the line in second with Valars III showing great promise in third.
In the GP42 Series it was first blood to the Italian boat Roma Mk 2 with Paolo Cian steering.
