Most importantly there must be three boats, one in each of the stipulated rating bands, and, all teams must be on the starting grid for the... more

470s escaping a storm at the Worlds
Flat calm followed by a 40 knot storm stopped any racing taking place at yesterday's opening day of the Delta Lloyd 470 World Championships, at the Hague, Holland. After a delay kept crews ashore until 2pm, the Men's and Women's fleets eventually ventured out into a near mill pond. But with storm clouds looming and no start looking possible, the fleets were sent back ashore, just in time. The lack of wind proved to be the calm before the storm with driving rain and 40 knot gusts catchi... more

Quarter finals onboard Mirsky vs Iehl
Marstrand, Sweden - The mind games commenced on day 3 of 2010 Stena Match Cup Sweden as the quarter finals started with a first to 3 points scenario taking care of semi finals runner and riders selection for Stage 5 of the ISAF World Match Racing Tour. All 8 teams had a tight rope to walk today balancing out joint commitments to both match racing boat positioning and on course strategy looking for the pressure in between shadowed pools near the two headlands. Out of harm’s way an... more

Onboard with Gilmour
Marstrand, Sweden - The wind spun round to the South today at Stena Match Cup Sweden altering the game plan for the final 5 flights of Stage 1 of the event.  For some of the smug skippers of the World Match Racing Tour, Marstrand is their home of old and they therefore take clear advantage in the race course knowledge stakes.  The change in wind direction enforced shorter legs to races with 3 rounds as the teams tracked the cutting gusts through the rocky outcrop of the ... more

Mirsky vs Holmberg
Marstrand, Sweden - The World Match Racing Tour contenders have now settled into daily winds of 12 – 15 knots running the length of the fjord and unbroken sunlight.  Stena Match Cup Sweden’s race course looks as though God himself modeled it on a match racing amphitheatre and has provided the best conditions yet experienced on this year’s Tour calendar.  Determined faces lined the skipper’s briefing this morning before the early start to racing with all ... more
